January 2024 Alabama Hydrangea Society Newsletter

Hello Alabama Hydrangea Society members,
It’s a new year and as gardeners we are optimists, always hoping each new year for a great growing season.

At our Wednesday, January 24th Alabama Hydrangea Society meeting, Elise Bogdanchik will present a program on “Landscaping with Hydrangeas / New Varieties.” If you ever shopped at Collier’s Nursery you may recognize Elise. She was their manager for many years. For the last few years she has run her own business – Fiore Garden Design. www.fioregardendesign.com

Our meeting will take place in the Aldridge Gardens Education Building at 1:00 p.m. Visitors to our meetings are always welcome so please bring a friend.

We had a good response at our October meeting with members bringing their 2024 dues. If you missed the meeting, please send your $15 membership ($25 for a couple) payable to Alabama Hydrangea Society, c/o Susan Pretnar, 2149 Bailey Brook Dr., Birmingham, AL 35244.

Our door prizes (plural) will be two beautiful coffee table garden books.

The first book, in recognition of the new year, is Martha Stewart’s Gardening Month-by-Month (autographed by Martha!).

The second book, in honor of our speaker, is a picture book called Breaking Ground: Portraits of Ten Garden Designers.

Keep Growing,
David Doggett, AHS president
